Samia
Rab is originally from Pakistan and has lived in Karachi,
Lahore, Quetta, Rome, Boston, Atlanta, Honolulu and
Sharjah. She has received a Ph.D. in architecture from
the Georgia Institute of Technology (1997), a Masters
in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (1990), a Bachelors in Architecture from
the National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan, (1986),
and a Diploma from the International Center for Conservation
(ICCROM), Rome, Italy (1993).

She
is a registered architect in Pakistan (Registration
# A0980) and her professional practice has focused on
architectural and urban conservation of historic districts
in Cairo, Lahore and Sana'a. At present, she is developing
the region's first graduate program in Heritage Management.
Her teaching area includes survey lecture courses on
history of world art, design & architecture, seminar
courses on contemporary regionalist architecture of
Asia and the Pacific region, seminar courses and workshops
on Heritage Management in the U.A.E. Her research focuses
on documenting and analyzing examples of contemporary
architecture and urban design in Asia, Pacific rim,
and the Arabian Gulf that seek to establish or retain
indigenous and regional identity.
