Dr. Said Faiq

Professor in the Department of Arabic Studies
Professor Said Faiq is Professor of Translation & Intercultural Studies at the American University of Sharjah. He was chair of the department of language and literature (2003-07) and director of the graduate program in translation and interpreting (2002-07). Prior to his current position, he worked at Salford and Leeds universities (UK). At Salford he was director of studies for Arabic/English translation & interpreting undergraduate and graduate programs from 1995 to 2001. He has published widely on (Arabic) translation and intercultural studies, e.g. Cultural Encounters in Translation from Arabic (2004), Translation, Representation, and Identity in Intercultural Communication (2006) and Trans-lated: Translation and Cultural Manipulation (2007).
