The Department of Mathematics is young and ambitious. The department has 22 full-time faculty members and all hold doctorate degrees and 2 instructors (M.S. in Math.). The principal goal of the Department is to help students become critical thinkers and problem solvers. There is mathematics major at the American University of Sharjah. Applied Mathematics :Stochastic Partial Differential Equations, Stochastic Hybrid Systems under External noise and Markovian Perturbations, Stochastic Controlled Systems and Quantitative Properties, Fluid Dynamics under Markovian Structural Perturbations. Real & Complex analysis : Geometric Theory of Functions of One Complex Variable, Theory of Minimal Surfaces, Geometric function theory, Univalent functions, and Harmonic univalent functions.

Probability and Statistics: Functional Data Analysis (FDA), Nonlinear Regression estimation and Curvature Measures,  Parametric Sensitivity Analysis in Nonlinear and Multi response Regression Models,  Measure-Valued Processes, Stochastic Processes and their Applications.
