The Chemical Engineering Club

The Chemical Engineering Club, CHE-Student Chapter-AUS, was established in Fall 2004. Its mission is:

“To promote the personal and professional growth of chemical engineering students as well as to increase the community awareness of the importance of chemical engineering in society.”

This mission statement is adapted from the mission statement of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers which aims to:

  • advance the development and exchange of relevant knowledge
  • uphold and advance the chemical engineering profession's standards, ethics and diversity
  • enhance the lifelong career development of chemical engineers through products, services, networking, and advocacy
  • stimulate collaborative efforts among industry, universities, government, and professional societies
  • encourage other engineering and scientific professionals as well as all parties interested to participate in CHE-student chapter activities

The primary objective of CHE-Student Chapter-AUS, is to help chemical engineering students at AUS achieve their highest potential in their personal and professional lives.

The specific objectives of CHE-Student Chapter-AUS are as follows:

  • To expose students to practical aspects of engineering disciplines
  • To enhance relationships between students, AUS faculty and the community as a whole
  • To provide students with greater opportunities in career and internship placements
  • To give students a chance to participate in social activities and to take part in community service

Members of the CHE-Student Chapter should be AUS students when joining CHE-Student Chapter-AUS club. Membership is available to any interested student of any major regardless of race, sex, religion, origin, color, or disability. Only chemical engineering students, however, can hold an office.

Students who become members of CHE-Student Chapter-AUS enjoy the following benefits:

  • A chance to attend conferences, hear speakers from industries and share experiences and facts about a career in chemical engineering.
  • An opportunity to attend plant trips and other social events.
  • Better job and internship opportunities.
  • Exposure to the chemical engineering field and its role in society.
  • Better chances to mingle with students in other departments through sporting events, contests, etc.
