Corporate executives and parents attend SBM reception Mr. Jason Davis, US Consul General, along with senior representatives of prominent corporations and parents, attended a reception organized by the School of Business and Management (SBM) recently to thank the companies and parents of SBM students for their active support in the school's various programs and activities. More than 100 guests attended. The program included presentations by members of the Business Student Committee (BSC) who talked about the various projects that they conducted this academic year. In addition students who went on the SBM study tour delivered a presentation about the companies they visited. Talat Anwar, mother of SBM student Hamna Anwar, said “Even though we heard a lot from Hamna regarding her experience on the study tour, we learned even more at the reception about the professional and business knowledge that she was exposed to. All in all, it was a great opportunity for us parents to interact with other students and hear about the diverse experience of each one of them.” Certificates of appreciation were given to both the students and the companies for their contribution to SBM's successful projects. Some of the companies represented were General Motors, General Electric, Motorola, and KLM among others. “It was nice to see so many businesses representatives attending our reception. And it is very rewarding to see the active interest parents are showing in our SBM activities,” said Carol Houser, SBM Director of Community Relations. “It was great to be on the organizing side of things when AUS students visited General Motors in Miami, and now to be part of the audience and see how successful the trip was for them,” said Julie Watkins, who works for General Motor's HR division in Miami.
