Mission

The Athletics Division’s mission is consistent with the American University of Sharjah’s mission and adheres to the goal and mission set forth by the Office of Student Affairs, to enrich the educational experience of students’, staff and faculty and promote their wellness by providing high quality and satisfying sports experiences.

It is also committed to the concept that athletics, both intramural and intercollegiate, comprise a part of the educational process.

As such, the division adheres to the educational objectives and academic policies of the American University of Sharjah and seeks to provide an equitable opportunity for all AUS students, staff and faculty.

Objectives

• Develop fitness training programs and activities for the AUS community.
• Provide a variety of high quality sports programs for beginners and intermediates both recreational and competitive.
• Provide opportunities to further develop athletes’ skills through intensive training and coaching.
• Enhance social relations between students through sports activities.
• Encourage AUS students, staff and faculty to take part in sports activities.
• Provide a public relations medium to promote national and regional awareness of AUS.
