Personal Injury
In all serious cases, call the ambulance (ext. 2699 or mobile 050 635 7651) for emergency treatment.
Heat-related Illness
- Get the victim to a cool place.
- Loosen tight clothing.
- Apply cool, wet cloths to the skin.
- Fan the victim.
- If victim is conscious, give cool (not cold) water to drink.
- Obtain medical attention at the University Health Center or other appropriate resources.
- Dial ext. 2699 or mobile 050 635 7651 for an ambulance if the victim refuses water, vomits or loses consciousness.
- Report the incident to the responsible supervisor.
Minor Cuts and Punctures
- Vigorously wash the injury with soap and water for several minutes.
- Obtain medical attention at the University Health or other appropriate resources to check the victim's tetanus status.
- If impaled by a foreign object, do not remove the object. Seek medical attention immediately.
- Report the incident to the responsible supervisor.
Material Splashed in the Eye
- Immediately rinse the eye and the inner surface of the eyelid with water continuously for 15 minutes.
- Forcibly hold the eye open to ensure an effective wash behind the eyelid.
- Obtain medical attention at the University Health Center or other appropriate resources.
- Report the incident to the responsible supervisor.
