The Strategic Human Capital Agenda | American University of Sharjah

About the Program

Redesigning Work, Talent and Organizations in the Age of AI

About the Program

Human capital management has traditionally focused on attracting, developing and retaining talent to support business performance. AI is now challenging fundamental assumptions about how work is performed, which capabilities organizations need and how people and intelligent systems should work together.

As AI moves beyond improving individual productivity to reshaping workflows and ways of working, human capital leaders must reassess strategic priorities, identify opportunities for AI-enabled value creation and prepare their organizations for change.

The Strategic Human Capital Agenda in The Age of AI is an applied, two-day executive program combining current research, strategic frameworks and hands-on AI experience. Participants examine emerging human capital priorities, workforce capabilities, human–AI workflow redesign, organizational learning, change management and responsible AI governance.

Through executive cases, practical exercises, industry perspectives and peer discussions, participants develop a Human–AI Workforce Action Board outlining prioritized initiatives, accountability considerations and practical next steps for their organizations.

Why This Program Now?

AI is changing not only how HR services are delivered, but also how organizations plan their workforce, develop capabilities and create business value. Human capital leaders must respond to several emerging priorities:

1. Rethinking Work and Human Capital

AI is reshaping how work is performed, how roles evolve and which capabilities organizations need, challenging established assumptions about workforce planning, talent and organizational design.

2. Connecting HR Priorities to Business Value

Business and human capital leaders must align priorities and investments with organizational strategy, evaluate competing opportunities and demonstrate measurable business impact.

3. Preparing the Workforce for New Ways of Working and Building New Workforce and Leadership Capabilities

As roles and skills evolve, changing work requirements call for new approaches to workforce planning, capability development, talent mobility and leadership of human–AI teams.

4. Leading AI Transformation and Sustaining Change

HR must transform its own operations while supporting enterprise-wide AI adoption, building organizational readiness, employee trust, clear accountability and the conditions for lasting change.
