Dr. Mohammad Amin Al Jarrah

Mohammad-Amin Jarrah earned a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Stanford University, California. He has held academic positions at the Jordan University of Science and Technology and King Abdulaziz University. His research interests are in dynamics, modeling, control of complex systems, unmanned autonomous robotic systems, and applied unsteady aerodynamics and aerial vehicle design. He has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses in system dynamics, control systems, mechatronics system design, unmanned systems design, and advanced engineering mathematics. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an engineer for Jordan Phosphate Company in Jordan.

Dr. Mamoun Abdel-Hafez

Mamoun F. Abdel-Hafez earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He was a post doctoral researcher at UCLA for one year, working on an unmanned automated landing project. He also assumed a senior research engineer position at SySense Inc., working on high-accuracy estimation and sensor fusion algorithms design. His teaching area is in the dynamic systems, control, and estimation track. His research interests are is in estimation, sensor fusion and fault detection and applications of GPS/IMU systems.

Dr. Saad Ahmed

Saad Ahmed earned his PhD degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He has published over 100 papers in international refereed journals and conference proceedings. He has been included in Who's Who in America and listed in American Men and Women in Science. His research interest is focused on the area of experimental thermofluid sciences. Professor Ahmed is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).

Dr. Basil Darras

Basil M. Darras earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky (Lexington). He was also a post doctoral scholar in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Kentucky. His areas of research and teaching interest are solid mechanics, manufacturing processes and materials processing. He is also a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS).

Dr. Ibrahim Deiab

Ibrahim Deiab earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He has been teaching mechanical engineering and manufacturing courses for the last eight years at AUS and McMaster. His areas of research interest are machining, fixture dynamics, modelling of machining processes, finite element analysis, machinability, EFD/EFM and CAD/CAM/CAE. He is registered professional engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada, and a member of the American Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Hany A. El Kadi obtained his PhD from the University of Alberta, Canada. He has taught courses in design, mechanics and materials for more than 15 years at Winona State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and AUS. His research interests are in fatigue and fracture of composite materials as well as the effect of processing on their mechanical properties. His current research involves the use of artificial neural networks in various mechanical engineering problems. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society of Composites (ASC) and the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).

Dr. Ameen El-Sinawi

Ameen El-Sinawi received his PhD degree from the University of Dayton-Ohio. He has industrial experience with International Truck and Engine Corporation-USA and served as a professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia prior to joining AUS. He is active in research in fields related to control, vibrations, MEMS and renewable energy. He is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

Mohamed Gadalla has over 20 years of experience in industry and academia. He has published more than 55 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He has chaired many international conferences, symposia, workshops and technical meetings. He is an active member in many international scientific organizations and societies. He is on the editorial board of prestigious journals. His main areas of research are fuel cells, hybrid systems, renewable energy technologies, energy systems, thermal energy storage, HVAC systems and energy management. He is a recipient of several research, teaching and service awards. He earned his PhD from the University of Alabama.

Verica Radisavljevic-Gajic received her PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University, New Jersey. She has held academic positions at Rutgers University, Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, and California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Radisavljevic-Gajic’s research interests are in dynamics, modeling, control of complex systems, and biomedical engineering including systems biology. She has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses in dynamics, control systems, mechatronics, mechanical design and engineering mathematics. Prior to her academic career, she worked as an engineer for Gosa Research Institute, Belgrade.

Dr. Ali Jhemi

Ali Jhemi received his PhD in Control Sciences and Dynamical Systems from the University of Minnesota, Minnesota. He held a technical staff position at the Aerospace Corporation in Los Angeles, California, for two years and an engineer/scientist position at the Boeing Company in Mesa, Arizona, for eight years. Dr. Jhemi’s research interests are in dynamics, modeling and control of aerospace systems. He has active research in the field of unmanned Arial vehicles and in active control sticks technology for Fly-By-Wire systems.

Dr. Mehmet Kanoglu

Mehmet Kanoglu received his PhD from the University of Nevada, Reno. He spent a one-year sabbatical leave at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He has taught in thermal sciences courses in mechanical engineering for more than 15 years at the University of Nevada, Reno; the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and University of Gaziantep. His research interests are renewable energy, hydrogen production, gas liquefaction systems, power plants, cogeneration and energy conservation. He is the co-author of the book Refrigeration Systems and Applications (Wiley).

Dr. Shivakumar Ranganathan

Shivakumar Ranganathan earned a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Prior to starting his PhD, he worked as a mechanical engineer at General Electric (GE) Global Research. He has won several awards, including the university gold medal during his undergraduate studies, and the Hats-Off Award and the Management Award for outstanding research contributions at GE. His current research and teaching interests are in multi-scale solid mechanics. He is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a reviewer for the ASME Journal of Applied Mechanics.

Dr. Umit Sonmez

Ümit Sönmez received his PhD from Pennsylvania State University. He worked as a research assistant at Pennsylvania Transportation Institute and was a faculty member at Istanbul Technical University. His areas of research interest include (compliant) mechanism design and synthesis, active vehicle safety, compliant robots and MEMS, and heavy vehicle dynamics. He has worked on a European Union-sponsored (FP6) and Turkish-government sponsored Career Project.

Dr. Essam Wahba

Essam M. Wahba received his PhD in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Wahba held several teaching and research positions at the University of California, Davis and Alexandria University. He is the recipient of the Joseph L. Steger Award for Excellence in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Dr. Wahba has also authored or coauthored more than 20 papers that have appeared in various international journals and conference proceedings.
