Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Dr. Dana Abouelnasr
Associate Professor and Department Head
Dana Abouelnasr earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, and a master’s degree in public health from Emory University, USA. Prior to joining AUS, she was at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the field of environmental health. Her areas of research and teaching interest are in the transport of environmental contamination, environmental health and risk assessment, adsorption and biomedical engineering.
Dr. Ghaleb Al Husaini
Associate Professor
Ghaleb Husseini graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Biomedical Track) from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, USA. He is currently on sabbatical leave at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. His research interests involve sequestering chemotherapeutic agents in polymeric micelles, liposomes and other carriers. The contents of these drug delivery systems can then be released using ultrasonic power to the tumor site, thus avoiding the side effects of conventional chemotherapy. His other areas of interests include non-viral gene delivery, ultrasonic bone-healing and surface modification.
Dr. Raafat Alnaizy
Associate Professor
Raafat Alnaizy received his PhD from the Chemical Engineering Department at Texas A&M University, USA. His areas of expertise are kinetics, catalysis and reaction engineering. Dr. Alnaizy was a senior process engineer at Intel Corp., Portland Technology Development. He has published several journal articles and technical papers and given presentations at many conferences. He has also served on the technical committees of many chemical engineering conferences. His research interests concentrate on the application of fundamentals of reaction engineering and separation principles to environmental chemical engineering in process industries.
Dr. Rachid Chebbi
Professor
Rachid Chebbi received his PhD from the Colorado School of Mines, USA. Before joining AUS, Dr. Chebbi worked for the UAE University, the University of Qatar, Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activités Pétrolières, Shell Tunisie and the Tunisian Ministry of Economy. Dr. Chebbi has taught more than 20 different courses and has held administrative positions. The research publications of Dr. Chebbi are mainly in the areas of transport phenomena and natural gas liquids recovery.

Nabil Abdel-Jabbar earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, USA. He has worked as a faculty member at Jordan University of Science and Technology, as a Fulbright visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and as a senior project engineer at AspenTech. He has published several journal and conference articles and organized many international and regional conferences. His areas of research and teaching interest are advanced process control, process synthesis and optimization, mathematical modeling and computer simulation.
Dr. Ibrahim Kocabas
Associate Professor
Ibrahim Kocabas holds a PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University, California, USA. He has worked in Suleyman Demirel University, Isparta, Turkey; UAE University, Al Ain, UAE, and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, where he taught groundwater engineering, petroleum reservoir and production engineering courses.
