Biology Lab Instructor (BLI) - Adjunct (part-time)

The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences seeks an adjunct BLI who will teach the laboratory component of different Biology courses being offered by the department and carry out other related activities. The BLI will instruct the laboratory component of the following courses: General Biology I, General Biology II, Genetics, Microbiology, and Ecology. In addition, the adjunct BLI will be expected to operate standard and advanced biology equipment.

The successful candidate will have an MS degree in Biology or Biology-related field, good communication skills in English, and prior experience in a similar position.

Adjunct faculty position in Music

The American University of Sharjah is now hiring for an adjunct position in Music to teach two Applied Voice or two lecture sections in Fall 2015. The Music Program at AUS is part of an active production-oriented Performing Arts Program with music, theatre and dance productions every semester. The program offers minors in Music and Theatre. Adjunct Chemistry Faculty Position in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences (BCE)

The American University of Sharjah (www.aus.edu) seeks Chemistry Ph.D. holders to serve as adjunct faculty in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences (BCE). The successful candidate will be required to instruct mainly general chemistry courses. The successful candidate will have a  PhD in Chemistry and an established record teaching in North American style, liberal arts environment.

BCE offers BS degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences and minors in Biology, Environmental Sciences and Environmental Policy. BCE currently has 16 full time faculty members actively engaged in research in diverse areas within the three disciplines.

Faculty Position in History

The Department of International Studies at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates seeks a full-time faculty member specialized in the modern history of South Asia or sub-Saharan Africa . A sub-field in East Asian history is an advantage. Candidates must be able to teach a range of courses in their field of specialization as well as survey courses in world history and an upper division course on imperialism.

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in the relevant field, a record of excellent teaching, an active research agenda, and a wish to contribute actively to the interdisciplinary atmosphere in the Department of International Studies.  

As a university formed on the American model and with English as the language of instruction, the American University of Sharjah will give priority to candidates who have substantial experience in American models of higher education.

Adjunct Faculty Position in the Department of English

The Department of English at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) seeks applicants for a one-semester position as an adjunct faculty to teach Advanced Academic Research Writing, Writing for Engineers, and/or Business Writing during the (AUS) Fall semester 2015 (possibly renewable depending on student interest and funding). Position in Arabic Studies

The Department of Arabic and Translation Studies in the American University of Sharjah invites applications for a faculty position in Arabic Studies at the rank of Assistant or Associate professor beginning in the Fall 2015.  A Ph.D. is required in Arabic studies with a focus on the classical age and preferably in Arabic literature, Islamic studies or a related field.  The ability to teach entry level Arabic heritage courses is essential. The successful candidate will have a native or near-native proficiency in Arabic, while being able to teach in English. The language of instruction at AUS is English, however, candidates able to teach courses in both Arabic and English are preferred.  Strong scholarly record/potential and relevant teaching experience are expected.

Applicants should have experience in and/or familiarity with the North American higher educational system, and experience in dealing with cultural and educational needs of a linguistically and culturally diverse student population. The ability to contribute to other courses offered by the Department will be a distinct advantage.
