Associate Professor/Full Professor in Operations Management/Supply Chain Management

The School of Business and Management (SBM) within the American University of Sharjah (AUS) seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in the area Operations Management/Supply Chain Management. SBM is recognized internationally with accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). This honor makes SBM part of an elite group, as fewer than five percent of the world's business schools have achieved this prestigious distinction.

AUS was founded in 1997 by the Ruler of Sharjah as a comprehensive, independent, non-profit coeducational university based on the American model of higher education. The campus offers a spectacular setting of imposing architecture and beautiful landscaping, located adjacent to Sharjah International Airport and 30 minutes from Dubai International Airport . Sharjah is known as a city of learning and culture and the UAE is a thriving and rapidly changing country of approximately five million inhabitants from throughout the world. AUS provides broad access to highly motivated students from countries across the globe, while maintaining academic standards appropriate for and consistent with U.S. universities.

Required qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline from an accredited school. The successful candidate must possess an established record or demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate must also have a strong commitment to engage with faculty colleagues in research and curriculum development. The Department of Marketing offers an undergraduate and an MBA course in Operations Management; and includes an undergraduate minor in Operations and Supply Chain Management. Opportunities to teach in the executive programs may also be available to candidates with prior teaching experience. Initial appointment will be for a three-year term. Classes are taught in English, and a majority of the faculty members were educated in the West. The atmosphere is international/multicultural and very diverse with no single nation accounting for more that 20 percent of the student body, in which approximately 75 nations are represented. More than 25 different nationalities are represented among the School's faculty members. In 2004, AUS reached its planned enrollment of 4,000 students (enrollment now exceeds 5000) and the university employs approximately 350 full-time faculty members.

The School of Business and Management is one of four academic units within AUS; the others being the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Architecture, Art and Design, and the College of Engineering. Further information is available at www.aus.edu.

There are currently six academic departments (Accounting, Finance; Economics; Management, Marketing, and MIS) within the School of Business and Management. SBM has approximately 1500 undergraduate students, 90 MBA students, and 80 full-time faculty. Degrees offered include a BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration), B.A in Economics, MBA, and EMBA.
