We hope you find our website useful and easy to navigate. We have designed it to provide you with as much information about the university as possible and I am confident that you will find it quite comprehensive and helpful.

AUS was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It has come a long way since its inception. The vision and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, the commitment of its faculty and staff, the adherence to standards of academic excellence, all have contributed immensely to the enviable reputation that AUS has come to enjoy throughout the Gulf in such a short span of time.  Today, the university plays host to almost 5,000 students from more than 80 different nations.

American University of Sharjah is based upon American institutional models but is thoroughly grounded in Arab culture.  It is licensed in the United States by the Department of Education of the State of Delaware and is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 215 662 5606). AUS is also licensed and accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and all undergraduate and graduate programs are recognized by the ministry and have been awarded either accreditation or accreditation-eligible status.

This website provides a wide range of information, ranging from admissions and registration, to undergraduate and graduate programs, to our faculty members and their qualifications and experience. Equally importantly, however, it also reflects the rich campus life enjoyed by our students.

We, at AUS, are very proud of our academic strengths and campus environment.
