Special presentation on protecting the past A special slide presentation and seminar entitled “Protecting the Past, Inspiring the Future” on the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the world's most prestigious architecture award program, was held on March 15 at the School of Architecture and Design (SA&D). The presentation was part of series conducted at various universities in the Emirates. Through a visual overview of the seven winning projects of last year's Aga Khan Award for Architecture, Mr. Alykhan Alidina, Executive Officer of the Ismaili Council, examined what it means to build in the “Spirit of Islam” while illustrating how collective responsibility and community solidarity — exercised by planners, architects, developers, scholars, governments, and other civil society participants — can nurture a humane and socially-supportive builtenvironment.
