Global Day function is a striking multi-cultural festival at AUS, contrived by students with the help of the OSA every year. Since the first academic year 1997 -1998 more and more effort and apperceptions have been exerted every year to boost the dimensions of this biggest event at AUS.

Student Activities in collaboration with student clubs/organizations worked tirelessly to prepare for the tenth Annual Global Day Celebration. Student Activities staff have put a tremendous effort and worked closely with the students to better manage the display of their culture in their pavilions.

Global Day is an event that encompasses the diverse cultures and traditions at AUS. With the help and advice of Student Activities all cultural clubs designed a corner in which they displayed their country’s traditions and culture.

The two-day event that encompasses cultural activities organized by students, which showcase the heritage  &  cultures of the nationalities present on campus. Prominently, such event provides the opportunity for students to prove their skills at a large scale, and make the large audience acquainted with the high standards of the university.

At its 10th AUS Anniversary this year’s Global Day congregated with the theme “Peace throughout the world” where more than 29 student Cultural Clubs and organizations participated.

Participants  were UAE,  Saudi Arabia,  Qatar,  Oman,  Bahrain,  Kuwait,  Algeria,  Palestine, Syria,  Jordan,  Lebanon, Iraq,  Iran,  Egypt,  Bangladesh,  Libya, Morocco,  Tunisia,  Sudan,  Nigeria,  India,  Pakistan,  USA,  Russia,  Afghanistan,  and Kazakhstan.  Other student clubs organizations also participated  including the AUS Power Hit Radio and the Cultural Islamic Club in addition to the student Council

The activities organized by the students through their cultural clubs, were performed by the clubs’ corners in form of a variety of shows like folkloric music and dances, cuisine, games, quizzes, bolstered by stage performances in the main auditorium.

The Fashion Show was presented by clubs after a short welcoming speech by the Emcees of the ceremony (MCs) Mohamed Al Dhafri in Arabic and Jumana Razwan in English.

The participating clubs in the cultural performances in the main auditorium were; Emirati, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Iranian, Indian, Afghan, American, Islamic, Palestinian, Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi, Jordanian, Russian, Sudanese, and Egyptian.

The participating countries represented by the student cultural clubs were; Emirates, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh,  America,  Algeria, Jordan, Yemen,  Sudan,  Oman,  Iraq, Kazakhstan, India, Russia, Palestine, Tunis,  Morocco,  and Saudi Arabia.

All the participants took their honorary strolls, uniting ambient and incidental music style with live runway fashion which was met with loud applause; they greeted the audience for a farewell departure from the stage. The stage performances for both the days excited the audience

The Corner of Sharjah     Social Empowerment foundation, sharjah Police, Red Crescent, Sharjah Charity International, Friends of Cancer patients, Al thiqa handicapped club, Al theqa project and many more organizations participated with Community Services corner

Student Centre

Welcome session was organized on 18th Jan.2008 between 5:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. to introduce university life for around 350 new freshmen students and their parents joining this semester.

Freshman Reception

Student Centre Lounge

The reception was held in the student centre between 6.00 pm. To 8.30 pm. After the delicious dinner the event was concluded by various games and quizzes played. Giveaway vouchers and gifts were awarded to those who answered correctly.  The event gave all the new students warm welcome to AUS.

Sharjah, Dubai city tour

A city tour was organized on Jan.21st 2008. Between 6.00 pm. to 9.30 pm.  to introduce the new students with culture, landmarks and the atmosphere of the Sharjah.

A tour to Dubai was organized on Jan.23rd2008 and about 90 students visited the important places and IBN BATTUTA MALL of Dubai city and students had introduction to new friends and new locations.
