Media Coverage
The Media and Printing Department staff works diligently
to publicize AUS events and the achievements of members
of the university community. However, we may not know
about everything happening on campus nor are we able
to attend every event. Here’s how you can help
us spread the good news about AUS.
Contact the Media and Printing Department staff when:
- You are planning
a significant event.
Please remember that advanced notice is required
in order to get maximum attention for your event.
Short notice makes it less likely that the media
will be able to attend. Please send all requests
for media coverage no less
than four working days before your event. Please note: events taking
place in the afternoon or evening are not likely
to be in the next morning’s
newspaper due to publication deadlines.
- You or a colleague has achieved a professional
honor or distinction.
Appropriate achievements to publicize include awards,
grants, and offices held.
- You have a new book, wrote a chapter,
gave a presentation, or published an article.
- Your research has yielded important findings.
- One of your students has received an important
award or honor.
Please provide the student’s contact information.
Send your news to Nazzal
Yousuf or complete the following
form. Please provide as much information as possible.
What Media and
Printing Can’t Do
When working with the media, there are no guarantees.
Once a press release leaves our office, we have no
control over how, when or if it is used. Even if a
reporter covers a campus event, his or her editor may
decide to delay publication of the story or choose
not to use it at all, depending on what else is happening
in the news that day. However, AUS enjoys a very positive
relationship with the media, and we continually share
with them the good news from our university.
