Welcome to the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) homepage at American University of Sharjah.

The MIS major that is part of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program at AUS is dedicated to preparing successful graduates for professional business careers, emphasizing the application of information technology to business processes, and to engaging in service and research that serve the information technology needs of society in general, and the Gulf region in particular.

MIS graduates coordinate research and design computer-related activities of firms; they determine technical goals and plan for their accomplishment. We equip our students with the know-how to coordinate activities such as installation of hardware and software, programming and system design, implementation of Internet and intranet solutions, analyzing the information needs of their organization and staying abreast of the latest technology.

MIS direct the work of systems analysts, computer programmers, support specialists and other computer-related workers. People working in MIS analyze and manage the computer and information needs of their organizations from an operational and strategic perspective, thus evaluating the newest technologies and determining how they can help their organization. They ensure the availability, continuity and security of data and information services.
