AUS FACULTY SENATE STANDING COMMITTEES 2003-2004

1- Academic Affairs Committee

Mandate: This committee has been formed to review and recommend curricular and academic matters; (1) to ensure a broad-based education that will enrich the students’ knowledge, develop their talents and cultivate a sense of ethics and social responsibility; (2) to provide and ensure a challenging academic environment to excellence, creativity, professionalism, and lifelong learning for both students and faculty.

The committee should continuously review the existing evaluation procedures and instruments. The committee should develop and recommend to the faculty senate evaluation procedures and instruments that fairly assess faculty performance in teaching, service, research and professional.

2- Admission & Financial Aid Committee

Mandate: To review standards for undergraduate admission and, upon approval of the senate, to tender resulting recommendations to the chancellor for consideration of submittal to the board of trustees. To advise the financial aid office in the formulation of policies, practices, and procedures used in administering all financial aid programs.

3- Bookstore Committee

Mandate: The faculty welfare committee is responsible for reviewing, studying and making appropriate recommendations to the faculty senate, on all concerns and needs of faculty. This mandate encompasses issues relating to faculty benefits, housing, working conditions and anything else related to the well being of the AUS faculty that is not addressed by other standing committees of the senate.
