AUS Sports Complex Facilities

Whether you are looking to get in shape, practice martial arts, or participate in team sports like soccer, basketball and volleyball, the AUS Sports Complex has something for you.  The Sports Complex is open to students, faculty and staff for a variety of recreational and competitive athletic activities.  The AUS Sports Complex also actively pursues developing and improving the level of UAE sports through athletic championships, symposia and training courses.

Sports Courts & Multipurpose Halls

This large sports courts gymnasium features two indoor basketball/volleyball/tennis courts for use in both organized sports and free recreation.  It is designed to be flexible for different sports activities and needs.  It is equipped with a 300 seating capacity bleacher, electronic scoreboard and a mechanical divider curtain that acts as a partition for special events and other occasions.  Apart from the sports courts, smaller multipurpose halls are also available; they are located in the east and west sides of the Sports Complex. These rooms are equipped with table tennis tables and aerobics equipment and mats.  They can be used for a variety of activities such as aerobics classes, martial arts training, dance lessons and much more.  A locker room is conveniently located in between the sports courts and multipurpose halls; it features storage lockers, changing cubicles and showers.

Swimming Pool

On the north corner of the building is a 50-meter indoor pool for lap swimming, instruction and competition.  Men and women’s locker rooms featuring storage lockers, showers and restrooms are available in the pool area. Lockers are available for day use only.

Fitness Centers

The centers are located on the east and west sides of the Sports Complex. They have a vast range of exercise equipment (free weight, weight training and cardio machines) all backed up by all year round aerobic classes as well as fitness programs developed to suit individual needs. Members of the AUS community are entitled to free use of the equipment as well as participation in the available fitness classes. Additionally, qualified and friendly fitness trainers are available daily to provide guidance and supervision to ensure good exercise and lifting techniques and correct use of equipment. They are also available to answer all users' questions and queries regarding fitness, nutrition and sports injuries. The AUS Sports Complex is proud of providing an exercise environment that is fun filled and motivating.

Grass Field

Located southwest of the outdoor courts, this official soccer field is fully illuminated and equipped with training goal posts and aluminum bleachers enough to accommodate a big crowd during major events. The AUS soccer league is being conducted in this field all year round and is considered the biggest of all intramural events in AUS.  Future plan for this area includes incorporating an eight-lane running track around the existing grass pitch.

Cricket Practice & Net

A cricket practice net is located just beside the football field.  It is mainly used for  improving bowling and batting skills.

A cricket ground just beside the cricket practice net to accommodate the increasing number of AUS cricket players is under construction in addition to the baseball ground.
