The dorm opened in 1997 and was among the first dorms on AUS campus. The dorm was later given a official name and is known as AL KINDY.

Al Kindy is one of the two dorms where the student room doors do not open into a corridor but rather into a garden. It has most of the facilities that other dorms have like a Computer lab, TV lounge, laundry, fitness room and car parking area are available.
