Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at American University of Sharjah. Our department offers outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for today’s rapidly changing and comparative environment. Our students conduct fundamental and practical research at the forefront of the science and engineering. Our faculty are intellectual leaders in their respective areas of research and our students have opportunities to work one-on-one with these faculty while pursuing their research and developing their skills and knowledge.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest departments at AUS. Our curriculum falls under three tracks: Thermofluids, Design and Manufacturing, and Control and Dynamics. The curriculum is supported with a large number of well-equipped laboratories to support the fundamental theory taught in the class room. These laboratories also support the research conducted by students under the supervision of faculty and laboratory instructors. Our students also have the opportunity to minor in emerging fields in engineering such as renewable energy, mechatronics engineering, aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, and petroleum engineering.
The mission of the department, its faculty and staff is to be the leading mechanical engineering department in the region through excellence in teaching, research, and service to the community. This mission can only be achieved through the dedication of all the stake holders of the department. Most importantly, it can be achieved by the hard work of our ethical, collegial, and well-qualified students. If you are up to that challenge, we invite you to be part of our family.
More information about specific areas of research, members of our faculty, or admission to our undergraduate and graduate programs can be found here.
