Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Laboratory

CEN  >  Departments  >  Mechanical Engineering  >  Facilities  >  Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Laboratory

Room Number: EB2-057

Lab Director: Dr. Mohammed Gadalla

Lab Instructor: Muhammad Jasim

Course Number: MCE 341, MCE 345L, MCE 445, MCE 446, MCE 490 / MCE 491

Our Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Laboratory helps students learn about refrigeration and air-conditioning cycles and their performance under different operating conditions. Students also learn different psychrometric processes associated with air conditioning systems. Students also use this lab when working on their senior design projects if they are related to HVAC systems design such as cold thermal energy storage systems.

The major equipment in the laboratory includes:

  • air conditioning laboratory unit
  • solar/heat source turbine
  • vapor jet refrigerator/heat pump
  • cold thermal energy storage system (CTESS)
  • water chillers
  • fan coil
  • cooling tower
  • refrigerators
  • window air conditioning system
