Mechatronics Laboratory

CEN  >  Departments  >  Mechanical Engineering  >  Facilities  >  Mechatronics Laboratory

Room Number: ESB-0012

Lab Director: Dr. Mohammad Jaradat

Lab Instructor: Ali Wadi

Course Number: MCE 423, MCE 464, MCE 466, MTR 501, MTR 690, MTR 630

Tests and projects mainly concerned with the design and implementation of projects involving mechatronics aspects, such as the integration between mechanical, electrical and computing, are conducted in our Mechatronics Lab. Our laboratory also hosts vibration measurement equipment for studying and analyzing mechanical vibrations. It also serves senior-level multidisciplinary projects across all programs of the College of Engineering.

The major equipment in the laboratory includes:

  • PLC Unit
  • mechanical vibration bench
  • mechanical vibration rig
  • test and measurements equipment
  • real-time control system prototyping equipment such as dSpace kits
  • Kawasaki Industrial Robotic Arm JS5 with the C-series controller
  • MICO 4-dof robot
  • modeling and simulation labs using Matlab-Simulink, LabVIEW and other CAD packages (Fluent, IDEAS, PSPICE, 20-Sim, Dymola, etc.)
  • model airplanes (fixed and rotary wings)
  • inertial navigation units and autopilot
  • SpectraQuest machinery fault simulator
  • quadrotors and mobile robots
  • OptiTrack motion tracking system
  • Siemens S7-400 lab for industrial control
  • Lego-Mindstrom based robotics lab
  • web-based machine monitoring and diagnostics lab
  • PCS7 Siemens process control
  • Pulse B&K vibrations and sound monitoring system
