SPE-Society of Petroleum Engineers

CEN  >  About  >  Undergraduate Affairs  >  Student Organizations  >  SPE - Society of Petroleum Engineers

The SPE Student Chapter aims to bridge the gap between students and the upstream oil and gas sector. Further, it aims to connect students with professionals in the industry. The chapter; in conjunction with companies, organizes field trips, training, special programs, internships and community endeavors.

A team of four engineering students representing the SPE Student Chapter of AUS received First Place in the University Programme in 2018 SPE ADIPEC (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference) held November 11-13, 2018. The application of the AUS team was submitted in mid-September to the SPE. After the initial selection from universities in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, the AUS team was selected to be one of final 17 teams in the contest, competing against teams from Pakistan, KSA, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt and UAE. This year, the topic of the competition was “Future Beyond the Oil: Crude Oil-to-Chemicals (COTC).” ADIPEC is the second biggest oil and gas conference in the world.
