FIRST INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Opportunities and Challenges

The Symposium constitutes an excellent opportunity for participants to hear from supply chain experts about latest developments in SCM and get practitioners’ view of innovative supply chain practices in some of the leading organizations.

The symposium will be held on April 25 – 27, 2008 at the American University of Sharjah, Sharjah, UAE. Sharjah is 20 minutes from Dubai which is a leading regional commercial and logistics hub.

Prospective authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of at most one page by March 20, 2008 on topics related to, but not limited to, the following topics:

Third and Fourth Party Logistics / Warehouse Management Systems / RFID Applications / Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment / Vendor Managed Inventory / Customer Relationship Management / Supplier Relationship Management / E-Commerce and E-Business Techniques Applied to Supply Chains / E-Finance and E-Logistics Applied to Supply Chains / Retailing and SCM / Financial Aspects of Supply Chain Management / Modelling, Tools, and Techniques for SCM / Performance Measurement in Supply Chains / Risk Management in Supply Chains / Supply Chain Design / Supply Chain Management in Particular Industries / Teaching  and Designing SCM Courses .

All proposals will be reviewed carefully by members of the Scientific Committee. Authors will be informed about the decision of the review process not later than March 30, 2008. The full paper submission is due by June 1 , 2008. Submitted papers will be considered for publication in a special issue if IJOQM: International Journal of Operations and Quantities Management (www.ijoqm.org)

 

Submitted papers can be conceptual, theoretical, empirical, or case studies. All submissions must be in Microsoft Word format. Each submission should include a separate title page listing: Title of paper; Author(s); Organisation affiliate(s); complete mailing address; and e-mail. Authors may submit their abstract/paper by email to fabdelaziz@aus.edu

For accepted submissions, at least one author must register for the symposium in order for the paper to be scheduled in the symposium program.

A number of leading SCM practitioners and researchers will be invited to deliver keynote lectures.

TRAINING SEMINARS

REGISTRATION AND FEES

Registration:          AED 700 (50% discount for students)

The fee includes attendance to the symposium, coffee breaks, lunch, dinner, and tour visit to main logistics sites in the area. The fees do not include training seminars.
