Dr. Robert Bateman
Associate Professor and Director of Executive & Graduate Programs
Rob Bateman earned a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Utah, USA. Prior to joining AUS, he worked as an international business consultant and as an officer in the US Foreign Service. He has lived and worked in Europe, Central and South America, Asia and the US. His teaching experience spans more than 50 nations. Dr. Bateman has served as a mayor and as a member of the City Council in two different communities. His research interests include cross-cultural knowledge transfer and ethics in both business and government.
Dr. Abed Al-Nasser Abdallah
Assistant Professor
Abed Al-Nasser Abdallah gained his PhD in Accounting and Finance from the School of Management (6* rating), the University of Lancaster, UK. He has worked at the University of Bath School of Management, UK, and taught in Executive MBA programs in the UK, Greece and Oman. He has been published in journals such as the Journal of Financial Research, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Management Accounting Quarterly Journal and the Review of Accounting and Finance Journal. His research interests include international listing of shares, information disclosure, corporate governance, earnings management, mergers and acquisitions, auditor independence, risk disclosure, Islamic versus conventional banks, analyst following and management accounting.
Dr. Norita Ahmad

Norita Ahmad received her PhD in Decision Science Engineering Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York. Prior to joining AUS, she was a lecturer at Pennsylvania State University, USA. Her research interests include decision making, social networks and knowledge management. Her professional experience includes database developer at Carrier Corporation, Syracuse, New York; system engineer at Motorola, Malaysia; IS analyst at BHL Bank, Malaysia; and various consulting work with companies such as Boeing, Tyco Electronics and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in the USA.
Dr. Nicholas Ashill
Professor and Department Head
Nicholas J. Ashill earned a PhD from Bradford Management Center in the UK and taught at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand prior to joining AUS. He has contributed to such journals as the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, European Journal of Marketing, Decision Sciences, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Strategic Marketing and the Journal of Marketing Management. He has been the recipient of numerous teaching and research excellence awards including a National Teaching Excellence Award for Sustained Excellence in Teaching in 2002 and a Research Excellence Award in 2005. He is also the current Associate Editor of the European Journal of Marketing.
Dr. Kim Heng Chen
Associate Professor
Kim Heng Chen teaches business statistics and operations management. He received his PhD in Decision Sciences from Washington State University, USA. His research has appeared in journals such as Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Communications in Statistics: Theory and Methods, Global Finance Journal and Review of Applied Economics. His research interests focus on business statistics, with emphasis on linear and nonlinear models, and empirical finance.
Dr. Hashem Dezhbakhsh
Professor
Hashem Dezhbakhsh earned his PhD from Ohio State University. He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level in the US at Emory University, Ohio State University and Purdue University, and at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His articles have appeared in leading economic journals, and his research has been cited in publication such as Newsweek, The Economist, New York Times, Australian and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He has also appeared as an expert in many radio and television interviews. He has worked as an economic consultant for GAO, the Carter Center, the Mexican Congress, R.J. Reynolds and Pfizer.
Dr. Gary Eldred
Associate Professor
Gary W. Eldred earned his PhD in Business from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA. He has previously held faculty positions at the University of Illinois, Stanford University and the University of Virginia in the USA, and the University of British Columbia in Canada. Dr. Eldred has authored more than 25 books and written more than 50 professional papers and refereed journal research articles. His areas of writing and research include real estate market and investment analysis, risk management, and retirement and financial planning. As a consultant, Dr. Eldred has worked with a variety of entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. Mehmet Gumus
Assistant Professor
Mehmet Gumus holds a PhD degree in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo in Canada. His current research interests include supply chain partnerships, risk management in procurement, logistics benchmarking and distribution network design. He teaches operations management, supply chain and logistics management, and managerial statistics courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. M. Sajid Khan
Associate Professor
Sajid Khan holds PhD in Consumer Behavior from the University of Manchester, England, UK. He has taught basic and advanced marketing courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels for more than eight years at institutions such as Cardiff University, Bangor University, and The Open University, UK. Prior to joining AUS he was a full-time faculty member at Cardiff Business School. His current research interests lie in customer satisfaction, loyalty behavior, arts marketing and consumption of art, perceptions of risk, and source credibility. He has also been a Visiting Fellow at Manchester Business School, and at the SIT Graduate Program, USA.
Dr. Andrew Klein

Andy Klein was with the Corporate Academic Department of DeVry University, USA, for 10 years where, among other positions, he was Associate Director of Business Programs. He earned his PhD in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Ernie C. Love
Professor and Department Head
Ernie C. Love is Professor Emeritus of Simon Fraser University in British Columbia in Canada, where he was the previous Dean of Business Administration. He holds a PhD degree in Management Science from London Business School. His research interests include stochastic processes, Markov Analysis and reliability. His works appear in journals such as the Naval Research Logistics Quarterly, IEEE Reliability, European Journal of Operations Research and Journal of the Operational Research Society.
Dr. Munir Majdalawieh

Munir A. Majdalawieh is an academic researcher and a practicing information system (IS) professional. Majdalawieh obtained his PhD in IS from George Mason University, USA. He has written about internal auditing and control, IT security and privacy, risk management, corporate and IT governance, information systems governance, and strategic changes in IT/IS technologies and management in academic and practitioners’ refereed journals and conference proceedings. He previously worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation, Hewlett Packard and Booz Allen Hamilton for more than 22 years. Majdalawieh is an active member of IIA, ISACA and the Risk and Insurance Management Society. He served as President of the Faculty Senate at the AUS.
Dr. Michael Malcolm

Michael Malcolm earned his PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. His research interests lie in household and family economics, and public policy related to child welfare. He teaches courses in applied microeconomics and in the history of economic thought.
Dr. Patrick McClelland
Assistant Professor
Patrick McClelland holds a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Kansas, USA. The focus of his research is the relationship between top management characteristics and firm outcomes. He has published in the Journal of Management, Managerial and Decision Economics, and the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings. Prior to joining academia Dr. McClelland worked in technology and strategy formulation for EDS Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Washington, DC, and independently with businesses in Italy and the UK.
Dr. Dennis Olson

Dennis Olson earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Wyoming, USA. Prior to coming to AUS in 1999, he taught at Texas Tech University, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, the University of Louisville, USA; University of Northern British Columbia, Canada; and Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and the University of Aarhus, Denmark. He has published in economics, finance and accounting journals. His research areas include investments, banking, financial econometrics and corporate finance.
Dr. Mohsen Saad

Mohsen Saad received his PhD from the University of Delaware, USA. His dissertation is in the area of micro-structure of finance. Prior to joining AUS, he worked at the American University in Dubai. Dr. Saad has been published in many reputable journals including, The Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of Empirical Finance and The Journal of Financial Research. Dr. Saad is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Banking Accounting and Finance. His research interests include market trading, market efficiency and banking.
Dr. Joseph Wallis
Professor and Department Head
Joe Wallis earned a PhD in economics from Rhodes University in South Africa. He has taught in economics, business ethics, leadership and public administration in South Africa, New Zealand and the UAE. His research interests mainly focus on the political economy of reform, leadership and public sector economics. He has co-authored five books and has written over 70 articles on these subjects.
Dr. Marie-France Waxin

Marie-France Waxin earned a European PhD in International Human Resource Management from Aix-Marseille University, France. She teaches staffing, training and development, performance management, strategic HRM, international HRM, ethics and human capital, and organizational behavior. Her latest areas of research and teaching interest are work, organizational and cultural values, expatriate management, talent management and Emiratization.
Dr. Taisier Zoubi
Professor and Department Head
Taisier A. Zoubi received his PhD in accounting from the University of North Texas, USA. His research and teaching interests are financial statements analysis, banking, information content of accounting information and emerging markets. His articles have appeared in the International Journal of Accounting, Emerging Markets Review, Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly, Journal of Applied Research, Petroleum Accounting and Financial Management Journal and other national and international journals.
