AIChE- American Institute of Chemical Engineering

CEN  >  About  >  Undergraduate Affairs  >  Student Organizations  >  AIChE- American Institute of Chemical Engineering

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) chapter at AUS is also an interest-oriented club that is available for students of all majors to register; however, it mainly targets chemical engineering students belonging to all different classes and standings. AIChE is the global home of chemical engineers, a large society that in the big picture not only targets students, but also gives a priceless chance for chemical engineers to belong to a society that includes students and professionals under one umbrella.

The association is a professional organization that was established in 1908 in order to give unique identity for chemical engineering and signify it as a field independent of mechanical engineering and chemistry. As of 2018, the global association has over 60,000 members in more than 110 countries worldwide. The organization incorporates many forums available for the members such as Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Division, Separations Division, Safety & Health Division, and many more. Members can join these forums as per their interest.

At AUS, the organization aims to help students better understand the essence of chemical engineering by providing a safe space for them to think and interact with their fellow chemical engineering students. The board and subcommittee members strive to achieve this goal by holding events that help the students grow and sharpen their skills. The scope of the events includes, but is not limited to, hosting workshops, arranging industry visits to put the students into the context of real-life chemical plants and processes, hosting speakers and arranging an overseas trip that is both educational and fun.
