IEEE - The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

CEN  >  About  >  Undergraduate Affairs  >  Student Organizations  >  IEEE-Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is recognized as the largest technical organization worldwide; its aim is to advance research and knowledge on science and technology for the benefit of humanity. It has almost 3,000 student branches in over 100 countries, including the IEEE student branch at American University of Sharjah (AUS). The AUS IEEE branch is an extension of the Department of Electrical Engineering, which means that the events are backed by the department and the advisor is frequently consulted for workshop ideas or events that they wish to see implemented. While its events are primarily related to electrical engineering, many are also open to CEN students. Organizing conferences, hosting speakers and conducting the annual study tour are examples of events which the IEEE and the department work on together.
