Reason and Emotion: The Special Case of an Opera in Torun (March 2017)
Fernando Menis (PhD in Architecture) is an architect and associated professor at the University of Hong Kong and the European University of Canarias, and Chairman of the Laboratory for Innovation in Architecture, Design and Advanced Tourism of Tenerife.
Inaugurated on December 12, 2015, the CKK Jordanki is Fernando Menis' most complex work to date. Located in the historic UNESCO protected town of Torun, the multifunctional concert hall expresses a fusion of old and new through the use and reinterpretation of historical and contemporary materials. With an innovative building method ("picado") and a flexible acoustic ceiling, the auditorium is also adaptable to various public capacities, making it one of the most revolutionary works of the architect.
