Biography
Dr. Qadah earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Ain-Shams University/Cairo-Egypt and M.SC. and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor. Dr. Qadah served on the faculty of the Computer Engineering Department of Northwestern University (1983-1991) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology/Zurich (1985-1986). Between 1991 and 1997, he worked with AT&T and lately Lucent Technologies Bell Labs. During the years 1998 through 2001, Dr. Qadah was on a World Bank-supported mission as a Senior Technology Advisor to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) responsible for planning, setting up and managing its information technology infrastructure including the registration and operation of the Palestinian Top-Level domain (.ps), the design and implementation of a government-wide intranet and setup and operation of IT training institutes to the benefit of the Palestinian employees. Currently, Dr. Qadah is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the American University of Sharjah.
Dr. Qadah has extensive academic and industrial experience in information technology, serial/parallel database systems, XML databases and queries, software engineering and computer networks. He supervised over 30 master and Ph.D. level students. Dr. Qadah has served as a symposium chair, track chair and a member of technical program committees of a number of international conferences. He presented a number of tutorials worldwide and published over 37 quality papers in prestigious Computer Engineering/Science Journals and Conference Proceedings. Dr. Qadah holds a patent for his work on Voice-over-IP (VOIP) at Lucent’s Bell Labs.
