Plan I

Plan I is compulsory for AUS-sponsored students but optional for others.

Charges are as follows:

 Fall 2020: AED 600

The University Hospital Sharjah Care Clinic + ER fee of AED 112.50 is waived for Fall 2020 due to remote learning.

Spring: AED 600 + 112.50 (for University Hospital Sharjah Care Clinic + ER)

Summer: AED 300

Applying for Coverage

All new students are automatically placed on Plan II by Banner default. Students who wish to apply for the medical insurance provided through AUS will need to submit color copies of the following documents during the registration period.

  • Passport and visa copy
  • Student’s mobile number
  • Emirates ID (front & back)
  • Mobile number
  • Visa of sponsor, email address and contact number

For Abu Dhabi Visa Holders

  • Same as the above documents
  • Certificate of continuity from previous insurance
  • HAAD form if there is a lapse

Benefits include:

A. Full medical and hospitalization insurance up to AED 50,000 for hospitalization and AED 7,000 for outpatient expenses. In-hospital confinement medical expenses covers necessary reasonable and customary cost and expenses for:

  • Hospital room and board during hospital confinement (within the limits shown in the schedule).
  • Intensive Care Unit if found necessary by attending specialist.
  • General nursing care during hospital confinement (not members of immediate family).
  • Hospital services, expenses and supplies for medical care in the hospital.
  • X-ray (except dental and general health check-up)
  • Radiotherapy, lab tests and analysis.
  • Medicines (dispensed by a licensed pharmacist with a written prescription), medicines, surgical dressing blood and blood plasma.
  • Supports, rental of wheel chair or iron-lung when (prescribed by a specialist). Artificial limbs and eyes (necessitated by disability which commences during the effective period of the policy), cast, splints, trusses, braces and crutches.
  • Anesthetics and administration thereof.
  • Medical, surgical and specialist fees (excluding dental, unless the treatment is for accident injuries and sound natural teeth as a result of violent and external means within 190 days of the date of accident).
  • Outpatient expenses 

B. Coverage on campus and throughout the UAE.

C. Deductible of AED 25.00 for consultation will have to be paid if referred to other specialists. The deductible does not apply when you visit University Health Services.

D. Twenty percent co-insurance for medication

E. Twenty percent co-insurance for medical treatment related to sport injuries, except for students who are officially registered as members of an AUS athletic team, upon confirmation from AUS.

F. The following health services on campus:

  • Primary health care - includes consultation and emergency medication.
  • Basic investigation - blood sugar, blood grouping, urine tests, ECG, pulmonary function test.
  • Round-the-clock emergency care and first aid for students living in dorms.
  • Ambulance services - 24-hours
  • Vision and blood tests for driving license purposes
  • Fitness test and fitness certification for sports
  • Follow up care
