His work also entails monitoring the UAE's performance in international ranking reports such as the World Economic Forum (WEF)'s Global Competitiveness Report and INSEAD's Global Innovations Index .
Dr. Abdullatif AlShamsi joined the Institute of Applied Technology as a Director General in June 2007. He holds the rank of Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at UAE University. Dr. AlShamsi received his Ph.D. from Duke University, USA in 1997 and received his master's and bachelor's degrees from Boston University. His appointments at UAE University included the post of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research, where he founded and managed the externally-funded office for research and science (eFORS) to strengthen industrial/academic partnership.
