Join AUS Model United Nations (AUSMUN) for its annual celebration of UN Day. This year's event will feature speakers from the World Food Programme (WFP) who will address the challenges WFP has faced during the pandemic and how the course of their work has changed due to COVID-19. WFP was recent named the 2020 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speakers:
- Dr. Sammy Badran, Assistant Professor, AUS Department of International Studies.
Dr. Badran previously taught political science courses at the University of Kansas and Saint Martin's University. He has offered introductory courses in Comparative Politics and International Relations along with upper division courses surrounding Contentious Politics, MENA Politics, and Non-State Actors, among others. His current research project investigates the impact of constitutional reforms, repression, parliamentary elections, and ideological cleavages on protest levels in Morocco. He has conducted over 45 semi-structured interviews with activists and civil society organizations/political parties that participated in the February 20 Movement. - Zeina Habib, Head of Communications and Engagement, WFP International Humanitarian City, Dubai
