Physics Seminar: Designing Materials for Hydrogen Storage: From Bulk to Nano (November 2017)
Dr. G.P. Das, a solid state physicist working as a senior professor in the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata, will be presenting a talk about hydrogen storage that he used in the field of designing materials.
About the Speaker
After obtaining his PhD from Bombay University, Dr. G.P. Das went to the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart for post-doctoral research on electronic structure of materials. He spent more than two decades as a senior scientist in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. He has published mroe than 150 original research papers in international journals and book chapters in diverse areas such as alloys, intermetallics, nanostructures, renewable energy (in particular hydrogen storage) materials, semiconductor devices, spintronics materials, and more. He has also delivered invited talks at more than 100 international conferences all over the world. He has served as visiting scientist in several institutes: Max Planck Institute Stuttgart-Germany, Virginia Commonwealth University-USA, Institute of Materials Research-Japan, and University of New South Wales-Australia.
