Socially Responsive Communication Design (March 2012)
To study the impact of globalization on design education; compounded with the development and accessibility of technology and opening up of economies, media and shared cultural ideologies in regions that were once considered socialist, or under dictatorships has brought new sets of design challenges. How important does the image or the design become as a communicative tool? And looking wider who addresses global ethical responsibility and in what forum? A unique sensitivity to indigenous subcultures and exploration of most common elements from daily lives often misunderstood; misinterpreted, or simply miscommunicated can be a source of fascination and an opportunity for creativity to me in a form of a project that can be taught across design disciplines.
All are welcome to attend.
