Themes of Contemporary Art (May 2013)
Hunar Gallery of Dubai invites you to a group exhibition of student drawings and paintings from courses taught by Associate Professor David Hewitt at the AUS College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD).
Hunar Gallery is pleased to showcase the works of AUS students who have elected to study drawing and painting to compliment their area of degree specialization. The gallery is committed to promote emergent art in the region. Students explored themes that have recurred in art over the past few decades, such as the body, time, place, science, spirituality and identity. A thematic approach allowed students to make choices, explore processes, materials and techniques, while attempting to translate experience into visual form. Society benefits immeasurably from the intellectual, social and cultural exchange brought about by art.
General Education courses at American University of Sharjah, in this case art courses via CAAD, support the university's mission to provide an educational framework and opportunity for "creative, intellectual inquiry, ethical behavior and social responsibility."
For more information, please contact [email protected].
If you would like to attend the opening, please RSVP to [email protected]. A bus will leave at 6:15 p.m. from the AUS main roundabout on Thursday, May 15 .
