Students test their athletic skills at AUS Olympics
The Student Council at American University of Sharjah (AUS) hosted the second edition of the AUS Olympics April 12-13, 2016. Students from the cultural clubs competed in soccer, basketball, volleyball, cricket and a 100-meter sprint. Approximately 600 students from 20 cultural clubs and the Student Council participated, with the Egyptian Cultural Club taking home the overall prize.
In addition to the sports competitions, there were free fitness activities, stage performances and a food court. Stage performances included DJ music by the Power Hit Radio Club, a fire show, African drum entertainment and cultural performances by the Indian, Pakistani and Jordanian clubs.
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students, said, "Since this is an event by students for students, we have witnessed how the students worked together to create an event that is of their liking and interest. It is good to see our students unwind in a healthy manner. Our students really enjoyed their time in the various sports competitions and entertainment during this two-day event."
