These versatile machines can be custom made or bought and allow for tools to be attached to a robot arm (called end effectors). The robots may be programmed for one off or repetitive tasks which are performed with a high degree of accuracy.
The Digital Fabrication Lab at CAAD features two 6-axis Kuka robots and use Rhino Grasshopper with KUKA|PRC plugin.
We have two floor mounted KUKA KR 125/3 robotic arms with a payload of 125kgs each and a reach of 2.4m. In addition, there’s an external KUKA DKP-400 2-axis turntable connect to one of the robots. The working area and volume varies based on type of task being programmed.
Access generally restricted to dedicated courses with basic training provided during these courses. For inquires about the lab please contact our Digital Fabrication Labs Specialist.
Please refer to Appendix C of the CAAD Labs’ Policies and Procedures Manual for this lab’s policies, along with other general lab policies.
