Dean's message

A key feature of our programs is the intensive, hands-on learning in our well-equipped and extensive laboratory facilities.

Sirin Tekinay

Welcome to the year 2020 at College of Engineering (CEN) at American University of Sharjah!

2020 marks a year of accelerated globalization, student participation and leadership, research and development, and revolutionary innovations in engineering education for CEN. With both dynamism and accumulated experience in our CEN faculty, we are both excited and confident in taking strides towards our goals of raising the talent the world needs for decades to come, and generating socio-economic and environmental value out of our research and development. Both goals are intertwined at innovation, entrepreneurship, student engagement.

We place our students centerstage and forefront in all we do. With such a diverse student body in a university that champions diversity, we find it is our duty to ensure an inclusive environment of acceptance and support for all.

As the lead educational institution in the region, our vision is to be a global leader in engineering, with an integrated approach to education and research.

Our values include being ACCOUNTABLE, ACCESSIBLE, and AVAILABLE as a node in the academic network of the world, where competition and cooperation are inseparable. We are dedicated to promoting and propagating the global “open access” movement in open science, open design, and open innovation. Our industrial and international ties are rapidly evolving and getting reinforcement from our successful, loyal alumni. We are a member of global societies of engineering education and research along all of our engineering disciplines. With all of our programs fully accredited, we support global quality and strive to radiate our contributions from our local community out.

We are deeply aware that engineering as a field and a global community is responsible for “making life on Earth more sustainable, safe, healthy, and joyful.” The urgency, the worthiness, and the honor of carrying this responsibility is reflected in our culture of excellence.

You are invited to come and share our excitement…
