The First Conference of the United Arab Emirates Gender and Women’s Studies Consortium Gender and Women’s Studies in the Arab Region (March 2012)
Mission: The UAE Gender and Women's Studies Consortium (UAEGWS Consortium) works to create a network of scholarly initiatives through collaboration amongst UAE institutions in order to facilitate the continued development of Gender and Women's Studies across the UAE, and to create a unique inter-institutional model for educational innovation.
Vision: The activities developed by the Consortium are meant to enhance students' learning, facilitate collaborative research for faculty, pilot efforts to develop and incorporate scholarship on gender in the curriculum, and facilitate exchanges between campuses and scholars across the UAE.
Goals: To encourage UAE-based universities, colleges and research institutions to:actively support teaching activities in gender and women's studies,support individual and collaborate research activities in gender and women's studies (e.g. through grants and release-time...),promote the integration of scholarship on gender and women into the general curriculum,recommend library acquisitions in the area of gender and women's studies,build capacity in the UAE.
