GCC Media Education Congress (February 2014)
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), the first GCC Media Education Congress (GCCMEC): Education for Employment--Realizing Youth Potential in the Arab Media Sector will be held at AUS on February 19, 2014.
Organized by the AUS Strategic Communications and Media Department in partnership with the Department of Mass Communication/College of Arts and Sciences, the event will bring together a select group of media academics and industry professionals to exchange knowledge about the state of media education and its relevance for the region's changing communications market needs. The GCCMEC will comprise parallel panels of speakers addressing the gap between academia and industry, the media personality of tomorrow, Arabic as a language of media education and production, digital media opportunities and challenges, the role of talk shows in Arab media, and women in media. Among other things, the event will serve as an ideal platform to create yearly thought-leadership content, and build and deepen region-wide media sector relationships.
