An Evening with Novelist Dr. Salma Haddad (in Arabic) (March 2019)
Dr. Salma Haddad will talk about her three novels “سكينة ابنة الناطور”, “سأشرب قهوتي في البرازيل”, and “أكمليني يانائلة”, whose heroines fight for their own space in an extremely tight social environment. Their antagonists are places, stereotypes, enmeshments, exclusive mentalities, emotional and physical violence, confused identities and decision kidnappers.
Speaker: Dr. Salma Haddad obtained her BA in English Literature (1984) and Postgraduate Diploma in Translation (1987) from Damascus University, Syria, and her MS degree (1992) and PhD degree (1996) in Translation and Translation Theory from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. She worked at Damascus University, Faculty of Literature and Human Sciences, Department of English from 1996 to 2010.
This event is organized by the Department of Arabic and Translation Studies Events Committee.
