Green Living Learning Community (GLCC) (September 2023)
Attend this event to learn more about the Green Living Learning Community (GLLC) at AUS. The GLLC provides an immersive environment for students to formally and informally examine sustainability topics and the roles that they can play in addressing sustainability and climate change. This will be primarily achieved through subject matter specialist-led discussion sessions and accompanying educational activities. Using the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guide, the aim of the GLLC is to foster a culture of sustainability and climate action by increasing their understanding of the environmental, social and economic impacts of individual actions, complimenting the formal classroom environment. Students will engage in important discussions and relevant activities at AUS and in surrounding communities. With peer and mentor support, students will be empowered to make informed, impactful choices and develop personal living habits.
Community Goals:
- Foster community through facilitated dialogues and experiences that build an understanding of justice as an essential part of sustainability and climate change
- Develop a deeper understanding of personal and civic responsibility in shaping a more vibrant and just campus and future
- Connect students with on- and off-campus sustainability opportunities through which they can obtain a deeper understanding of sustainability and climate change
Benefits of GLLC:
- Live, learn, study and get to know others who share your academic or other interests.
- Build strong friendships with your peers.
- Gain an increased knowledge about your major and career options.
- Participate in fun and educational in-house programming/events.
- Get support from a dedicated Resident Assistant, a fellow student who serves as a live-in resource and plans a variety of social activities and out-of-classroom learning events.
