As part of our Silver Jubilee celebrations, we started a new tradition to ignite the AUS team spirit.
Hosted by the Office of Student Affairs, AUS Leopards Day will be an annual campus-wide event involving students, faculty and staff.
The inaugural event was held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 in the Student Center.
On AUS Leopards Day, we invite everyone to wear their AUS pride in the form of university or college/school colors, Leopards uniforms, or AUS branded clothing.
Official AUS merchandise can be purchased online at w.aus.edu/merchandise. We have a great selection of apparel and gifts so you can show off your AUS pride.
Did you know?
Every time you purchase any of our official AUS merchandise, 8 percent of the profits go to the AUS Student Scholarship Fund. Buying merchandise is therefore not only a great way to demonstrate your AUS spirit but also support our students.
You can wear any of the AUS colors: burgundy, black, white or grey.
You can also choose to wear the color that represents your college or school.
For our inaugural AUS Leopards Day, we launched a competition to give students the chance show their love for the AUS Leopard mascot.
On November 17, students picked up a free, limited edition Leopard plushie toy from the Student Center. Over the next few months, they were challenged to share photos of their Leopard plushie in interesting places around the UAE and beyond, posting them on social media with the hashtag #FollowtheAUSLeopard.
Proud AUSer, Noor Abu El-Soud won first place for her shot of the Leopard at the 2023 World Cup in Qatar; Kessa Claire-Woldt came in second place with her shot in the snow at the top of Mt. Tahoma in Washington, USA; and Jawwad Sheikh won third place for his photo snapped at the top of the UAE's Jebel Hafeet.
The winners received the following prizes:
The Leopard has been the mascot of AUS since the university was established in 1997.
Featured on our sports team uniforms, the walls of our sports facilities and even the name of our original student newspaper, the Leopard has long been the star of the show at AUS.
For our inaugural AUS Leopards Day, we gave our mascot a complete makeover, and was revealed to the university community on AUS Leopards Day, November 17, 2022.
