AUS celebrates UAE Flag Day
American University of Sharjah (AUS) took part in the countrywide celebration of UAE Flag Day at a ceremony held at noon, today, November 3, 2015, to demonstrate national unity and loyalty to Emirati culture.
The ceremony, hosted by the Office of Student Affairs and the Emirati Cultural Club, was led by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor, and other senior university officials as well as a large crowd of students. The attendees participated in raising the flag during the celebration.
"This day reflects our national pride," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi; Dean of Students. "Our flag is the symbol of our unity, patriotism, pride and great leadership. The UAE is blessed with great leaders who are loved and respected by Emiratis and residents alike. On this day, we commemorate the countless accomplishments of our leaders and people and the significant developments of our country. I wish everyone a happy UAE Flag Day," she added.
According to Mohammed Kalbani, President of the Emirati Cultural Club at AUS, "UAE Flag Day reflects our loyalty to the UAE, and we try to represent our national spirit and our pride towards our country. We will continue to promote our national traditions. I am happy to be a part of the vision of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE."
