OSA hosts orphans and the elderly in entertaining trip
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) hosted orphans under the care of Human Appeal International, Ajman and the elderly from Sharjah Old People's Home for a day of entertaining activities in Ras Al Khaimah on December 7, 2013. Sponsored by the Cove Rotana Resort, Ras Al Khaimah, the activities were held at the resort's compound and facilities.
Around 30 student volunteers from OSA's Community Services joined the trip and assisted over 20 orphans and elderly in the activities. The children enjoyed the fun games and exciting activities in the resort's Sphere Hall. The elderly were happy sharing their stories with the student volunteers and they expressed great joy in watching the children play and have fun. A short tour along the beach and picture taking followed. The event was concluded with a lunch and the distribution of gifts and giveaways.
"In this simple but meaningful event, we bring people together from various groups of our society. The contrast between the children and the elderly creates a unique opportunity for our students to gain experience in caring for both age groups on one occasion. We thank our students for sharing their time and efforts and to our sponsor for supporting this event that is truly memorable to our guests," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
