Everyone, including students, needs health insurance.
Good health is essential to your academic success, and adequate insurance makes sure you get the care you need to maintain your health.
At University Health Services (UHS), we offer two types of student health insurance plans. If you need care or treatment, visit the university clinic. The deductible will not apply when a student is seen at the university clinic.
If you live off-campus, in case of medical emergencies after working hours and on holidays, please visit the nearest hospital from the network of providers list.
If you need to see a consultant/specialist outside, please obtain a referral letter from UHS during normal working hours.
Insurance is optional for graduate students. However, a consultation fee will be charged for every visit to the university clinic except for emergencies.
Plan I and Plan II are both available at initial enrollment for semesters and the coverage will continue until you have left/graduated from the university.
However, premiums will be collected semester-wise. Note that purchase of this insurance is a contract for the time period designated, e.g., Fall semester or Spring and Summer semesters, even when you make semester-wise payments.
Graduate students living in dorms can opt for Plan I insurance. However, premium charges are to be paid in advance for the full year or for the duration of the course.
