The Origins of DUST: A Riwaq al Fikr lecture in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Festival (March 2022)
The Origins of DUST: Understanding of, respect for, and sensitivity to the spirit of place is a Riwaq al Fikr lecture in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Festival.
Special guests Cade Hayes and Jesús Robles from US-based design collective DUST form an alliance of architects, craftspeople, artists, designers and builders with practices rooted in the master-builder tradition—a collective of people grounded firmly in the tactile, in pursuit of the intangible.
This lecture explores the origins of this practice and the ideas and ethics rooted in a reverent intimacy with craft and place. Ideas unfold in the creative space of intersections and find form through a respect for material and an unwavering attention to craft by skilled hands.
Note for campus visitors:
As part of AUS campus COVID safety protocols, all visitors to our campus are required to present a green pass on their Al Hosn app and must wear a mask when inside our campus buildings.
