Active students attend OSA forum
More than 90 American University of Sharjah (AUS) students who actively engage in different student groups attended a forum held by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) on October 6, 2015 at the university's Student Center. The students were members of the Student Council, leadership focus groups, interest-oriented and ethnics clubs, sports teams and community services. These students highlight the university's extracurricular activities through their constant involvement and participation in the university's events.
In her opening remarks at the forum, Dean of Students Dr. Moza Al Shehhi expressed her full support towards extracurricular activities. "The student forum is one of our assessment tools to gauge student satisfaction in our programs, services and facilities. It is also a platform where we share viewpoints about student life at AUS," Dr. Al Shehhi said.
"We try to absorb as much information from student questions, feedback, concerns, ideas and complaints and consider them in enhancing our programs and services. The forum also promotes and strengthens the link between students and administrators for an open flow of communication and understanding," added Dr. Al Shehhi.
The students highlighted concerns regarding student life, including event sponsorship, student leadership programs, on-campus jobs, mediation programs, sport facilities, quality of sports equipment, time management and much more.
The Office of Student Affairs officials assured the students that their concerns have been noted and will be reviewed and studied. Students also expressed their appreciation to AUS and OSA for providing them with meaningful activities and extracurricular opportunities in various fields of interest.
The Office of Student Affairs organizes student forums at the beginning of each semester to discuss issues affecting student life and to further extracurricular activities at the university. The student forums were organized by the Office of Student Affairs' Student Development and Organizations Department.
