AUS work shown at Cannes Film Festival again
Short films directed by five students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) were selected for the Short Film Corner at the Annual Cannes Film Festival. Also accepted was a film by College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) faculty member Jack Swanstrom. The Festival de Cannes took place May 15-26, 2013.
The student films accepted were On the Edge, directed by Hana Kazim; Shiddi 7eilik by Salma El-Shami and Areeb Al-Shathri; Grief by Omnia ElAfifi; and Hessa by Rashed Al Nuaimi. Swanstrom's film was entitled Four Days. Ten student films were submitted from AUS this year, and the selected four were among almost 2000 registered short films.
According to Swanstrom, "The continued success of our student filmmakers is quite gratifying in that it speaks to the strength of our students, the film program and the support that the program receives from the college and university."
Last year, nine AUS students and Swanstrom had their films accepted in the Short Film Corner at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival.
